Unlocking Relationship Harmony with Human Design: How to Use Your Unique Blueprint for Compatibility
Have you ever wondered about Human Design synastry/relationship compatibility?
Whether it be a friend, partner, someone your dating, your children, or other family members…
Looking at the composite chart for both of your Human Design charts can tell you a lot about the relationship you will have with that person.
You can create a Human Design Relationship chart by using the HD chart calculator on my website here. Once you enter in your info and get your chart, you’ll see the option to “Create new Relationship chart “ Enter the other person’s info and hit create, it will pull up the connection chart and information.

When you are in someone’s aura, you are no longer an individual. You are the quantum, combined energy of what your two charts create together.
Learning how to read a connection chart, tells you the energy your relationship becomes when you are in that person’s aura. Because a new chart is created, and neither of you are individuals anymore.
The first thing you want to look at is, what channels you two share.
These are called Companionship Channels.
If there are none, that’s okay. We often don’t notice people who have the same channels as us, because they are us in that way, in that commonality. And that doesn’t necessarily benefit the gene pool.
If there are one or more channels you two share, this is going to create a mutual bond and shared understanding between you two, through the energy of that channel. It is very stable energy. It is the part of you that you recognize in the other. But can also, just as easily, be overlooked.

The second thing you want to look at is, are all the centers filled in?
If not, what center(s) is/are still undefined? This will tell you what center/energy you two need to be experiencing the world through
If all the centers are filled in (9-0), then your energy will feel like it is complete and whole together. You don’t need to seek out anything from other people or the world around you because you both have what each other need. It feels homey
If 8 of the 9 centers are filled in (8-1), then you two need to learn how to have fun together and experience the world through the center you have undefined.
As an example, if the Root is the only undefined center in your connection chart, you two need to go out and experience pressurized environments together where you can have fun, such as a football game, concert, or something similar.
It’s important to note here that none of this is bad. It all is just information and means something different, depending on your connection chart.
Next, you want to look at what channel(s) do you or the other person have, that you or the other person only has one gate in that channel.
These are called Compromise Channels and can lead to arguments, where there is not awareness, because the one with the hanging gate (half the channel) always wants to own the one conditioning them.
And the one with the full channel, does not want to be “owned” or disagreed with.
It can be helpful for the person who has the hanging gate of this channel to treat it like a Dominance channel (described below). Don’t try to fight this energy or win this person’s channel over them. The person with the full channel, has the say. They rule this energy and it’s important for you, as the hanging gate person, to just watch it at work.
The fourth thing you want to look at is, the channels that you have and the other person does not have, nor do they have any gates in that channel.
These are called Dominance Channels.
This is what the other brings to the connection. It’s truly beautiful because it gives you a glimpse into the other, and the parts of them that are truly them.
Now, look for gates that create channels when you connect your charts.
These are called Electromagnetic Channels.
It is the energy of instant attraction. But it can also make you blind, where you have no guarantee that this is the right person or not.
It creates a kind of spark, and tension or oscillation between attraction and repulsion. It can create a very fluctuating energy in the dynamic.
It’s like, when you first meet someone… this part of them is really exciting! But then overtime, it becomes a place of complaint/annoyance. That is this type of channel at work.
Lastly, you want to look at the Nodes. These are the horseshoe-looking symbols in the chart.
The Design/Unconscious Nodes will tell you the environment you need in order to fulfill your destiny. This is where your literal body/vehicle is going to take you.
The Personality/Conscious Nodes are your perspective. What you’re looking for in life. They set the scenario for the kinds of people you’re to meet.
If the lines of the Nodes do not harmonize in your connection chart, it’s likely you two will need completely different environments and perspectives to thrive and live out your purpose.
Harmonizing lines are as follows:
1st line - 1, 4, & 6
2nd line - 2 & 5
3rd line - 3 & 6
4th line - 4 & 1
5th line - 5 & 2
6th line - 6, 3, & 1
If you share at least one harmonizing line with your partner, it can help a lot. Because you two will have similar groups of friends, who probably have that line or its’ harmonic as well.
As with everything in Human Design, this can go a lot deeper.
