The Astrology Transits That Change Your Life (And Why Age Actually Matters)

Age matters.

Actually, scratch that.

Age matters a lot.

Because at certain ages, almost all of us experience major Astrology transits that shape who we become and how we move through life.

These transits are often so significant that people look back years later and say things like:

"That was the year everything changed."

"That was when I found my purpose."

"That was when my life completely fell apart."

"That was when I finally became myself."

Astrology gives us a language for understanding these pivotal chapters.

Let's look at some of the biggest.

Around Age 14: The Saturn Opposition

Teenage rebellion isn't random.

Around age 14-15, we experience our first Saturn opposition.

This transit marks the beginning of separating from authority figures and developing our own identity.

Questioning our parents.

Questioning the rules.

Pushing boundaries.

Discovering who we are apart from our family.

This is one of the first major steps toward becoming our own person.

Around Age 18-19: The Nodal Return

The first major "Who am I and what am I doing with my life?" transit.

The Nodal Return occurs around age 18-19 and often coincides with:

  • graduating high school

  • leaving home

  • choosing a career path

  • beginning college

  • entering adulthood

The North Node pulls us toward our purpose.

The South Node asks us to release old ways of being.

It's a huge turning point.

Around Age 21-22: Saturn Square Saturn

For many people, this is the first time adult life feels real.

Responsibilities increase.

Life gets harder.

You begin facing the consequences of your choices.

Many people experience their first true hardships during this transit.

But Saturn is also helping us build resilience and maturity.

Around Age 24-25: Expansion and Reinvention

Age 24 is a First House profection year, making it a huge year for identity.

Who are you becoming?

Who are you no longer?

Around this same time, we also experience our second Jupiter return—the first one as a true adult.

This often brings:

  • new opportunities

  • travel

  • growth

  • expansion

  • education

  • excitement

Many people begin stepping into what genuinely excites them for the first time.

Around Age 27: Everything Changes

Age 27 is a massive year.

The Nodal Opposition occurs.

For many people, the progressed lunar cycle comes to a close.

Depending on your chart and generation, Pluto may begin strongly activating your natal Pluto.

By this point, many people have also experienced changes to their progressed Sun sign or Rising sign.

You are no longer the person you were in your early twenties.

This period often asks:

Who are you when no one is telling you who to be anymore?

Age 29-30: The Saturn Return

Arguably the most famous transit in Astrology.

The Saturn Return is the gateway to adulthood.

Everything that isn't built on solid foundations begins to crumble.

Relationships.

Careers.

Identities.

Friendships.

But what remains becomes the foundation for the next 30 years of life.

Many people say this is the first time they truly feel like an adult.

The Thirties: Building What Matters

Life doesn't end at 30.

Honestly?

Life often begins.

At 32-33, we experience the Nodal Square.

This transit challenges us to move more deeply into our North Node purpose and release lingering attachments to our South Node comfort zone.

Age 33 is also a Tenth House profection year—a huge career year.

Many people experience major professional developments during this time.

Ages 36-38: Purpose Deepens

Around age 36, we experience our third Jupiter return.

Expansion accelerates.

Joy expands.

Life begins asking:

What truly excites you?

Then around ages 37-38, we experience our second Nodal Return.

This often pushes us even more strongly toward our life's purpose.

For many people, this period coincides with profound career and identity changes.

Ages 38-42: Deep Transformation

Depending on your chart and Pluto sign, Pluto square Pluto and Neptune square Neptune begin during this period.

These are not subtle transits.

They ask:

What is authentic?

What isn't?

What dreams still belong to you?

Which ones never did?

This period can feel deeply transformative.

Age 42-44: The Midlife Crisis Transit

The Uranus opposition.

Also known as the classic midlife crisis transit.

And honestly?

It deserves its reputation.

Uranus demands authenticity.

Anything in your life that is not aligned with your truth may begin falling away.

Many people:

  • change careers

  • leave relationships

  • move

  • reinvent themselves

  • radically change their lives

This transit isn't trying to destroy your life.

It's trying to free you.

Around Age 50: The Chiron Return

We could argue that full adulthood truly begins here.

The Chiron Return asks us to face our deepest wounds.

Not to suffer from them.

To heal them.

And ultimately turn them into gifts we can share with others.

By this point in life, many people become mentors, teachers, healers, or guides.

Their wounds become wisdom.

Life Happens in Chapters

One of my favorite things about Astrology is realizing that life unfolds in chapters.

You are not meant to stay the same.

You are meant to evolve.

To grow.

To become.

And understanding the transits you're moving through can make these changes feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more meaningful.

Because often, the periods that feel the hardest are actually the periods changing us the most.

Have you experienced any of these major transits yet?

I'd love to hear your story.

And if you're fascinated by life cycles and timing, we'll be diving much deeper into these themes, including synodic cycles and the major chapters of life, inside the membership community.
