Why It's Actually Hard to Be a Libra Rising
As a Libra rising myself, I've spent years reflecting on this.
And honestly?
I don't think Libra risings have the easiest lives.
I know that's probably not what most people expect to hear.
Because from the outside looking in, Libra risings often seem like they have it made.
We're ruled by Venus after all.
The planet of beauty, pleasure, ease, relationships, art, harmony, and flow.
People often look at Libra risings and think:
"Their life seems so easy."
"Everything just works out for them."
"They're naturally charming and attractive. What could possibly be hard?"
But the reality of being a Libra rising is often very different.
In my experience, and in observing other Libra risings—friends, clients, celebrities like Britney Spears—we often live very challenging inner lives.
And much of that challenge is hidden from other people.
Libra Risings Are Incredibly Hard on Themselves
One of the biggest reasons for this is that Virgo rules our 12th House.
The 12th House is the unconscious.
It's our blind spots.
The things we don't always see clearly about ourselves.
And for Libra risings, that unconscious landscape is ruled by Virgo.
Meaning?
We're often incredibly self-critical.
Perfectionistic.
Hard on ourselves to a fault.
It can be almost impossible for us to see what we do as "good enough."
There's always another level.
Another goal.
Another thing we could improve.
Another version of ourselves we know we're capable of becoming.
And while this can make us extremely ambitious, it can also make it difficult to recognize how amazing we already are.
Sometimes I think Libra risings need other people to reflect their greatness back to them.
Because we can become so focused on what still needs to be improved that we lose sight of what we've already created.
Our Own Worth Can Feel Hidden
Another fascinating piece of the Libra rising chart is that Venus rules both the 1st House and the 8th House.
The 8th House is hidden things.
Psychology.
Depth.
Transformation.
And because Venus rules our identity as well as this hidden realm, our own value can sometimes feel strangely invisible to us.
It's just who we are.
It's what we naturally embody.
And because it comes so naturally, we don't always recognize it as valuable.
Other people often see our gifts more clearly than we do.
Ironically, this can sometimes create insecurity, jealousy, or projections from others.
People see something in Libra risings that we often don't fully see in ourselves.
Home and Family Often Feel Heavy
Capricorn rules the 4th House for Libra risings.
Which means Saturn becomes the ruler of home, family, roots, and childhood.
And Saturn doesn't tend to create easy experiences.
Many Libra risings grow up in environments that are:
strict
traditional
highly structured
emotionally restrictive
heavily influenced by authority
Some experienced religious upbringings.
Others felt like their authentic selves weren't fully accepted or encouraged.
There can be a feeling of having to grow up quickly.
Or a feeling that love and belonging came with expectations attached.
This often becomes one of the great healing journeys for Libra risings: creating the sense of home, safety, and belonging that they may not have fully experienced growing up.
Relationships Are Rarely Simple
Libra is the sign of relationships.
So naturally, relationships are deeply important to Libra risings.
We crave connection.
We thrive in connection.
We learn about ourselves through connection.
But here's the twist.
Aries rules the 7th House.
Which means Mars rules our relationships.
And Mars brings conflict.
Confrontation.
Passion.
Projection.
Competition.
Triggers.
For many Libra risings, relationships can feel intense.
People often project onto us.
They become fascinated by us.
Inspired by us.
Intimidated by us.
Or all three at once.
Especially if you have Mars in the 7th House like I do. 😅
I've noticed that people often seem to have strong reactions to Libra risings.
Sometimes people immediately love us.
Sometimes they immediately dislike us.
And often, neither reaction has much to do with who we actually are.
This can make it difficult to feel truly seen and met in relationships.
Libra Risings Are Deep Thinkers
One thing I absolutely love about Libra risings is how intellectually curious we are.
Jupiter rules our 3rd House.
Mercury rules our 9th House.
We're constantly learning.
Researching.
Questioning.
Changing our minds.
Evolving our belief systems.
We're willing to dig deeply into a topic and completely transform our perspective if new information presents itself.
We don't simply accept beliefs because someone told us to.
We want to understand.
We want to investigate.
We want to think critically.
And then, once we've learned something, we usually want to teach it.
This can also feel isolating at times.
Because not everyone wants to question their beliefs.
Not everyone wants to look beneath the surface.
Many people are comfortable staying in familiar ways of thinking.
Libra risings often aren't.
We're here to evolve.
And that means our perspectives are constantly changing.
Big Dreams, Big Ambitions
Leo rules the 11th House for Libra risings.
Which means we tend to have very big visions for our lives.
Very big dreams.
Very big aspirations.
Combined with our perfectionism, this can create incredible ambition.
We know we're capable of something meaningful.
The challenge is learning to celebrate where we are while still moving toward where we want to go.
The Key for Libra Risings: Trust Your Intuition
One of the biggest lessons I've learned as a Libra rising is that life works best when I trust my intuition.
Cancer rules our 10th House.
Pisces rules our 6th House.
Scorpio rules our 2nd House.
Our work, our daily routines, and even our money often need to come from a place of genuine emotional alignment, intuition, passion, and obsession.
We need freedom.
Flow.
Creativity.
Meaning.
What we do for work has to matter to us.
And when we trust ourselves, trust our intuition, and stop trying to fit into someone else's definition of success, Libra risings can create incredibly beautiful lives.
Because all four of our angular houses are cardinal signs.
And cardinal signs build.
We are here to initiate.
To create.
To lead.
To bring beauty, connection, wisdom, and harmony into the world.
We just have to remember to offer ourselves the same grace and compassion that we so naturally extend to everyone else.
