The Biggest Astrology Secret Nobody Is Talking About: Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles: The Astrology Framework That Changed How I Read Charts

The more astrology I learn...

The more I realize everything is a cycle.

Not just Mercury retrograde.

Not just Saturn returns.

Not just the phases of the Moon.

Everything.

One of the biggest breakthroughs I've had this year has been diving into synodic cycles.

And honestly...

I don't hear enough astrologers talking about them.

Because once you understand synodic cycles, you stop looking at astrology as random events happening in the sky.

You start seeing a story unfolding.

You Already Understand Synodic Cycles

Even if you've never heard the term before.

The Moon is the easiest example.

A New Moon begins a cycle.

The First Quarter Moon asks us to take action.

The Full Moon brings culmination and clarity.

The Last Quarter Moon helps us release what's no longer working before the next New Moon begins.

That's a synodic cycle.

It's simply the relationship between two planets as they move through time together.

The beautiful part?

Every pair of planets has one.

Astrology Starts Feeling Alive

Instead of asking,

"What does this transit mean?"

You begin asking...

Where are we in the story?

Are we planting seeds?

Pushing through resistance?

Experiencing the culmination?

Or preparing to let something go?

Those are very different seasons.

And they completely change how I interpret astrology.

The Seed → The Crisis → The Culmination → The Harvest

I've started thinking about synodic cycles like gardening.

A conjunction plants the seed.

You can't see much yet.

You just know something new has begun.

The first square is when the seed pushes through the soil.

Growth requires effort.

Resistance shows up.

You realize this change is real.

The opposition is like the Full Moon.

Everything becomes visible.

You finally understand what has been growing all along.

Then comes the final square.

The harvest.

Taking what you've learned.

Releasing what no longer serves you.

Preparing the soil for an entirely new cycle.

It's simple.

But once you see it...

You can't unsee it.

This Is Happening In Society Too

One of my favorite examples is the Uranus-Pluto cycle.

A new cycle began in 1965.

Innovation.

Civil rights.

Environmentalism.

Women's rights.

Technology.

Questioning authority.

Those were the seeds.

Then we reached the first square between 2012 and 2015.

What happened?

The rise of social media.

The gig economy.

Content creators.

People building businesses from their gifts instead of following traditional career paths.

Those ideas planted in the 1960s suddenly became impossible to ignore.

Change didn't happen overnight.

It happened through a cycle.

That's what synodic cycles help us understand.

This Is Why I Love Astrology

Astrology isn't just about predicting events.

It's about understanding where we are in a much larger story.

Whether we're talking about your personal birth chart...

Or the evolution of society...

Everything moves in cycles.

And once you understand the cycle...

You stop fighting the season you're in.

Instead, you learn how to work with it.
