Your Human Design Environment Also Describes Your Business

After reading thousands of Human Design charts over the years, one pattern has become impossible for me to ignore...

Especially with entrepreneurs.

Your Environment doesn't just tell you where you thrive.

It often tells you how you're meant to share your gifts with the world.

Most people think Environment is only about where you should live.

And while that's definitely true...

I've consistently seen it show up in business too.

Not as a specific career.

But as the energy of how someone is naturally designed to create opportunities, connect with people, and build something that's aligned with who they are.

Here are some of the patterns I've observed..

Caves

Caves people often thrive creating from spaces that feel safe, quiet, and familiar.

Many work from home or create environments that feel like home.

I've noticed a lot of Caves people naturally gravitate toward content creation.

YouTube.

TikTok.

Writing.

Podcasting.

Research.

Teaching.

Investigating subjects they love and then sharing that knowledge with the world.

They don't necessarily need to be around people all day.

Instead, they invite people into their space.

Markets

Markets is all about exchange.

Buying.

Selling.

Movement.

I've noticed these people often excel selling products or services.

Owning boutiques.

Restaurants.

Food trucks.

Coffee shops.

Online stores.

Or building businesses around something that everyone naturally tells them they're amazing at.

One question I always ask Markets people is:

What do people constantly say you're a natural at?

There's usually something there.

Kitchens

Kitchens people often thrive bringing people together.

Community is everything.

Teaching classes.

Hosting workshops.

Retreats.

Memberships.

Collaborations.

Masterminds.

Group coaching.

Sharing wisdom that comes from lived experience.

Many Kitchens people discover what they're here to teach through trial and error.

Their life becomes the lesson.

Then they teach it.

Mountains

Mountains people often help others rise to a higher perspective.

They naturally guide people through transformation, expansion, and personal growth.

I've noticed many are drawn toward coaching, breathwork, retreats, leadership, spirituality, mindset work, and experiences that help people see themselves—and their lives—from a completely different vantage point.

Mountains people often become trusted mentors because they can see the bigger picture. They have a gift for helping others zoom out, rise above what's keeping them stuck, and move toward their highest potential.

Whether through teaching, retreats, speaking, or transformational experiences, their work is often centered around helping people elevate into the next version of themselves.

Valleys

Valleys people thrive through communication, connection, and the sharing of ideas.

They naturally build businesses centered around writing, speaking, teaching, consulting, coaching, podcasting, marketing, or any work that allows them to connect people through language and conversation.

I've noticed many Valleys people grow their businesses through word of mouth, referrals, networking, and the genuine relationships they build over time. People naturally feel comfortable talking to them, sharing their stories, and seeking their perspective.

Valleys people often become trusted communicators because they have a gift for gathering stories, information, and wisdom from others, then sharing it in a way that creates connection and belonging.

Whether through content creation, education, consulting, music, writing, or meaningful conversations, their work is often centered around using their voice to bring people together.

Shores

Shores is the place where two worlds meet.

I've noticed these people often build businesses around transitions.

Travel.

Retreats.

Personal development.

Helping people move from one chapter of life into another.

Sometimes they travel to clients.

Sometimes clients travel to them.

Sometimes they simply help people navigate the space between who they've been and who they're becoming.

Your Environment Doesn't Limit You

This doesn't mean you have to choose one of these careers.

Like everything in Human Design, your Environment is one piece of a much bigger picture.

But I do think it's one of the most overlooked pieces when it comes to business.

The more aligned your business is with how you're naturally designed to operate, the more sustainable it becomes.

I'd love to know...

What's your Human Design Environment, and what do you do for work?
